”メルセデスベンツ SLR マクラーレンの歴史”

メルセデスベンツSLRマクラーレンは当時F1グランプリでチームを組んでいたメルセデスベンツとマクラーレンが協同事業契約を結んで生産したスーパーカーで、2003年のフランクフルトショーで発表されました。 社名のSLRは1950年代に活躍したレーシングカー、メルセデスベンツSLRに由来し、生産はマクラーレン社の工場にてハンドメイドで行われました。

フロントに置かれるエンジンはAMGの開発による5.4Lスーパーチャージャー付きV8で、MTやセミATのギアボックスを採用していたライバル達とは一線を画し、トルクコンバーター式の5速ATを搭載しました。 F1GPのコンストラクターに相応しく、ボディには軽量高剛性のカーボンモノコックを採用しています。 また、ハードなブレーキング時にはリアウィングが自動で立ち上がるエアブレーキ機構を備えており、メカニズム上のハイライトの1つとなっています。

SLRはロードスターや722エディション、スターリングモスなど、スタンダードを含めて全部で6種類のバリエーションが生み出され、両社の事業契約の満了する2009年まで製造されました。

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren was the supercar produced by Mercedes and McLaren when they were a partner for F1 Grand Prix and its release was announced at Frankfurt Auto Show in 2003. The name of company “SLR” originates from the successful racing car in the 1950s. The production of the car took place in the factory of McLaren by people’s hands.

The V8 5.4-liter engine was developed by AMG and it comes with a super charge. Torque converter, 5-speed AT, was adopted and that made an outstanding difference compare to rivals who used a gear shift box of MT or semi-AT. A lightweight carbon monocoque was utilized and the wings that lift up automatically when braking strongly was another characteristic of this car.

There are 6 variations to SLR: 722 Edition; Starling Moss; Standard; and more. The car had been manufactured until the contract between two companies expired in 2009.
